The Mercantile Printing Company is founded by Harry S. Bye
- Circa 1900
the company relocated to 10th and Walnut Street
- 1933:
Coleman E Bye, Sr. becomes president and incorporates the company. The
company now operates as The Mercantile Press Inc.
- 1938:
The company moves again to 411 E. Front Street
- 1949:
Coleman, Sr. contracts and builds the facility at 3007 Bellevue Avenue
- 1954:
purchases its first lithographic offset printing press
- 1971:
Coleman Bye, Jr. becomes president of the company
- 1973:
The first phototype or coldtype system is purchased
- 1984:
Coleman Bye III joins the family business
- 1988:
The company acquires its first 4-color press
- 1990:
purchases the first of two film output devices
- 2001:
buys its first computer to plate device and goes filmless
- 2002:
Coleman Bye III becomes president of Mercantile Press
- 2005:
acquires a 6-color press with aqueous coating
- 2006:
purchases the next generation computer to plate device. The new
technology requires only water to process the plate.
- 2006:
purchases two new folders and a new 5-color press
